Picture: Supplied<\/p>\n<p>The Cars.co.za Consumer Awards have become one of the most anticipated annual industry events, each year bringing a fresher and bigger approach to celebrating the motoring industry and the motoring consumer.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>The 2020 event, which was held on Thursday 6 February at Kyalami International Grand Prix Circuit and Convention Centre and was attended by a host of local celebrities, industry leaders and media, was no different, providing an energetic and slick multimedia experience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Star-studded event <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>South African rap sensation Cassper Nyovest opened the ceremony, which boasted a poised and powerful Bonang as host, with his performance of his hit track <em>Gusheshe<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pic1.tadke.com\/imgs\/cars2lims\/0603\/33wtc1wruun.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-589158\" \/><figcaption>Cassper Nyovest performs &#8216;Gusheshe&#8217; at the Cars.co.za Consumer Awards ceremony with Bonang, right. Picture: Supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Some of the co-hosts and attendees included Maps Maponyane, Lalla Hirayama, Ms Cosmo and Nico Panagio.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>  <strong>How does it work?\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>The #CarsAwards are designed to highlight the best local products and brands in the local market. A total of 17 brands and 39 cars were represented as finalists across 13 categories.<\/p>\n<p>Each of these finalists were put through a rigorous testing process by 21 judges across various disciplines, who evaluate the finalists in a variety of testing scenarios.<\/p>\n<p>Their scores represent 50% of the final score with the other half being scored by South African consumers and vehicle owners across the country who also give their feedback. Photo: Supplied<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Taking home six category awards, it was no surprise that Volkswagen won the coveted Brand of the Year Award. This award is solely reliant on consumers having their say.<\/p>\n<p>It is the result of more than 13&nbsp;000 owners who voted Volkswagen as their brand of choice in terms of ownership, service, perceived brand credibility and value.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\">\n<p>It is the first time that VW has won this award and its testament to a raft of new products that have struck a good chord with the market. Entrants like the T-Cross have certainly ruffled feathers and the tried-and-trusted Polo Vivo and Polo continue to dominate the sales charts.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/pic1.tadke.com\/imgs\/cars2lims\/0603\/gn3ilza01ff.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-589245\" \/><figcaption>The Volkswagen T-Cross won the Compact Family Car category.
